Abstract
The principle of "Negation of Domination over Muslims by the Faithless" (Nafy-i Sabil), as a key jurisprudential principle, aims to protect the independence of Muslims and regulates interaction with non-believers to prevent subjugation in various arenas. With the emergence of new technologies, the analysis and application of this principle has become more complex and requires re-examination. This study, using a descriptive-analytical method, examines the documentation of the “Negation of Domination” principle. With the aim of assessing the relationship between the emerging phenomenon of “cryptocurrency” and the mentioned principle, and its effects on the Islamic world, it analyzes the dimensions of ownership, control, and function of this technology, and then provides solutions in this field. The findings indicate: Firstly, contrary to popular opinion, the Qur’anic verse “and Allah will never provide the faithless any way [to prevail] over the faithful “[1] and the tradition “Islam is superior and nothing is superior to it”[2] cannot be the basis for the jurisprudential principle of “Negation of Domination.” However, this does not mean that the mentioned principle is not valid; rather, the collection of numerous and specific traditions in various jurisprudential chapters that prohibit the domination of the faithless over Muslims can be considered the basis of the principle. Secondly, cryptocurrencies may, in many ways, pave the way for the economic domination of the faithless over the Islamic world through: 1. Ownership of infrastructure and digital assets; 2. Control of blockchain technology, such as centralized exchanges and stablecoins; 3. Uses and functions of cryptocurrencies; 4. Cultural influence; 5. Weakening of national currency; and 6. Influence on international laws and policies. This research, by providing solutions at three national, regional, and international levels, such as the development of indigenous Islamic cryptocurrencies, the formation of a financial union of Muslim countries, and the strengthening of legal cooperation, proposes a model for reducing dependence and achieving financial independence in the digital age.
